Date Flown: 2/8/2020
Report by Clifton, CD for the contest. We had 8 pilots for the contest again this month which was great. It makes for a better contest if you have 4 or more DLGs up at once - and its easier to read the air. However, air reading skills seem to be optional today as lift was hard to find, and when you did find it - it was soft and you had to fly well to gain any altitude. Lack of thermals wasn't the only challenge today. I had randomly selected 3 of the toughest F3K tasks (Last Flight, Poker, & One Flight) for this contest - and the scores reflected it. Scores were down on a typical WMAC F3K contest by 40% across the board. Stew Cox mastered the conditions better than anyone else and became the 4th pilot to win a WMAC F3K contest since contests began last year - well done Stew! Pete G and Lee tied for 3rd place - which is the first time we have had a tie in any contest.
